BATIK TRIP!!

On the 29 November we when to a Batik factory somewhere in KL. We had to get in group of 4-5 and decide before hand what we are going to design. For my group our theme was to make modern normal day workers into super heroes!!

HOW to make your own BATIK!!

STEP one!
Draw the lines with pencil first!
This pic isn't very clear cause the pencil like is very soft. Sorry for that :(

 STEP two!
DRAW it over with wax using a Tjantings!

WHAT is a Tjantings
A Tjantings is use to whole the hot wax and then use like a pencil to draw out the outlines on the batik!

STEP three!!
Coloring!!

Here are some pictures to show what did at the Batik factory!

Our work will be left at the factory for a few days before they sent to it all to us. They are going to help us touch up the color and also wash off all the wax, before the batik is ready.

Part 2 of the Monogram Assignment!!

We had to design our own monogram. So i Googled monograms to get a clear idea of how one looks like.
Examples of what I found.

After that I looked through some books to get some ideas of the font that I can use for my monogram.

Now the design process starts!!
I went and did some quick sketches of ideas I had and came out with 11 sketches.

Here are the sketches!!

and the last one that Miss Lisa picked!!

but it needed some improving on the angles and thickness. So I drew on a graph paper and picked the colours that I'm planning to use and after a few tries I got this final one.

The pink colour can be changed to any other colour I like but that about the end product of my final design!!

For our next assignments!

Monograms!!

Our first task was to look through book and find any picture or pictures you like and study the way it is formed.

I took a typography book and the picture i pick was this one.

And here is my notes of the picture.

I know you cant see what i wrote here so let me retype it out for you.

What style was this?
Typographic style.

Why did I like it?
The style of how the words overlaps one another but is still reader able.

What does it represent to me?
Give me the look of a building cause its solid.
Also the effect that it's messy but not at the same time, like order to the messy.

For this week we presented our work!!

Due to unseen problems a group of Architecture Studies we found sleeping in our classroom next to a mountain of can drinks and Maggie Mee cups. The floor fulled of cut up cupboard and uncooked spaghetti noodles so we hard to move our class to the walkway. Oh well forgive and forget!! Miss Lisa gave us a challenge to find a way to display our work in a unique way in the wall way. So here is what our class came up with.
